Located in the heart of the St. Augustine beaches, Dan Murphy’s Irish Pub delivers delicious Irish-inflected fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cozy interior features a classic wooden and brass bar where visitors and locals alike enjoy watching news or sports and catching up with friends or just the person they sat next to. Cozy booths and dining tables allow diners for more intimacy while enjoying a meal.
“In true publick house tradition, no one is a stranger, at least not for long in a comfortable, cozy atmosphere that invites conversation and offers tasty food and drink,” owner Dave Nugent explains, in his unmistakably Irish accent. Named for his uncle, Dan Murphy, a native of County Limerick, Ireland and a humble farmer dedicated to his wife Peggy and his dog Paddy, Dan Murphy’s pub is a great mix of traditional Irish pub and family-friendly restaurant with appeal to all generations. Dave opened Dan Murphy’s to introduce a farming way of life and family spirit to the St. Augustine dining scene.
“We do this by using locally sourced fresh product, smiling Irish hospitality and building a family spirit at the pub among staff and with our guests,” Dave added. Dave and his wife Emily have a young son Liam and another baby due in December so, as a young family themselves, they are passionate about offering a setting that is as welcoming for families with young children as it is for a group of friends enjoying a round of drinks and pub fare together.
To that end, the menu features the Irish dishes everyone loves—Fish and Chips, Bangers and Mash, Corned Beef and Boxty and Shepherd’s Pie—but also includes updated riffs such as a Wild Salmon Sauté, Shrimp & Chips, and Pan-Seared Chicken in an Heirloom Tomato Gravy.
Many dishes such as Corned Beef Tacos (corned beef, shredded cabbage, chives, pickled mustard seed and Guinness cream in twin flour tortillas) and Beer Battered Bangers and Spears (Irish Bangers and Half Sour Pickles, beer battered and served with triple mustard dipping sauce) use traditional Irish staples in creative ways.
Burgers and other “handhelds” feature mouthwatering toppings such as fried green tomatoes, extra thick bacon, rashers and Dubliner cheddar cheese. Dishes are finished with zesty sauces and melt in your mouth caramelized onions.
Breakfast at the beach is always a treat and Dan Murphy’s offers a hearty Irish breakfast (scrambled eggs, rashers, bangers, grilled tomato and beans) as well as omelettes and a Loaded Boxty (griddle-fried Irish potato pancakes, corned beef, two fried eggs drizzled with Hollandaise).
Whether you come for breakfast, lunch dinner or drinks, you will always find a friendly welcome at Dan Murphy’s.
Dan Murphy’s Irish Pub serves lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. and Weekend Brunch from 8 a.m. Daily Happy Hour from 3-6 p.m. and 9 p.m.-close.
