Luna Cafe Breakfast, Lunch and Desserts with Latin flair
Owners Gislane Nascimento and Denise Fagundes
with their biggest supporter, brother Leandro Freire
Family and the comforts of home are important elements to the owners of the newly opened Luna Cafe. Brazilian born sisters, Denise Fagundes and Gislane Nascimento, specialize in the traditional recipes of their homeland. Under the loving and watchful eyes of their mother and grandmother, Denise and Gislane learned to prepare the foods of their native Brazil. Now they bring those recipes to their cafe using only the freshest ingredients.
The menu is simple by design. The sisters have chosen quality and creativity over quantity of selection. The cafe decor is also thoughtfully laid out. Students can find a quiet space at a laptop bar to study and enjoy a cup of espresso or café com leite. There are tables for dining, a couch for relaxing and a children’s area with books and toys for the kiddos. The sisters, who are raising their own young families, progressed from a home-based bakery business to this homey cafe environment in a leap of faith. Breakfast is served all day. Enjoy signature salads, sandwiches or fresh fruit smoothies for lunch and delectable Brazilian baked goods for dessert. Customers rave about the biggest chicken salad sandwich in town; prepared-to-order with in-house mayo, roasted almonds, sprouts, tomatoes and avocado. Another favorite is the “Eggs Benny”, served with turkey bacon, hollandaise and a mixed green side salad. Look for Luna Cafe in the far corner of Westgate Plaza, off of State Road 16. Stop by to savor the fragrance of freshly brewed coffee and the peaceful ambiance.
