St. Augustine's premier kava bar, Shanti Kava is a community-centered lounge serving calming, alcohol-free drinks and wholesome food in a warm, welcoming space designed for connection, creativity and tranquility. Kava is a traditional, plant-based beverage made from the root of Piper methysticum, a shrub native to the South Pacific. For over 3,000 years, it has held a central place in the cultures of islands like Fiji, Vanuatu, and Tonga, where it is used in ceremonial, medicinal and social contexts. Shanti Kava serves a variety of flavorful beverages made with kava, which has a calming and relaxing effect, as well as botanical teas and coffee. Open Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., Shanti Kava's menu features quiche, breakfast sandwiches, flatbreads, wings, salads and desserts. Weekly events—ranging from open mic nights and trivia to karaoke and beyond—bring people together in a spirit of creativity, laughter and shared experience.
