Amici Italian Restaurant A Proud Family Tradition of Authentic Italian Cuisine
Sister and brother team: Benedetta Dubetz and Vito Arena
The genesis of Amici Italian Restaurant, one of St. Augustine’s favorite restaurants for the past 20 years, was Vizzini in Sicily, where Giovanna and Giuseppe Arena started their family. They immigrated to the Bronx, New York and their story could be chronicled in a simple way: it was all about their love and dedication to the family and their underlying passion for food, cooking and the abundant sharing of each meal with as many family and friends as a table could fit! Benedetta and Vito Arena—the brother and sister team and owners of Amici—grew up surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and extended family. “The importance of caring for each other began with my mother and father, and that is what keeps the ‘family’ of Amici Restasurant continuing in their tradition,” Benedetta recalls. Voted Best Italian Restaurant in St. Augustine 14 times, Amici’s comfortable dining rooms, beautiful trellised patio and elegant banquet facilities make dining a warm, memorable experience. With Vito supervising the kitchen, everything on the menu is made-to-order using fresh ingredients from recipes that have been passed down from one generation to another. Serving authentic Italian cuisine that is both traditional and innovative, Amici’s menu includes seafood, meat, homemade pastas, chicken, salads, homemade desserts and a carefully chosen wine list. Salute.
