Ginger Bistro Japanese Comfort Food in a Cozy Setting
Chef Tuna Liu
With a name like Tuna, you know this chef is passionate about food! That is certainly the case as Tuna Liu, chef-owner of the newly opened Ginger Bistro, has been cooking professionally since he was 15 (he is now 28). “I love to cook,” Chef Liu says “I can’t imagine doing anything else.” Chef Liu and his wife Eva opened Ginger Bistro in July of 2019. While learning his craft working in the restaurant world, Liu dreamed of owning his own establishment so he could unleash his creativity and create a style of Asian cuisine that is uniquely his own. That he has achieved that dream at such a young age is a testament to his determination and culinary talent. Chef Liu named his restaurant “Ginger Bistro” because ginger is a key ingredient of so many of the dishes he serves—sushi, hibachi and ramen. Ginger is also one of the most healthful ingredients of traditional Asian cuisines—its curative powers are widely known and sought after. Chef Liu believes that comfort food is a cure for mind, body and soul and invites diners to relax in a zen setting and allow his team to cater to your every need. Steaming bowls of ramen made with long-simmered broth and enriched with poached egg, mushrooms and pork belly waft through the dining room, and colorful platters of sushi and sashimi elicit oohs and aahs from neighboring tables. “I love to make people happy,” he explains, “and everyday here, I get to live my dream."
