Sisters Isela Gonzalez and Nelly Santiago have created a warm and welcoming cafe that offers a nostalgic nod to the food and culture of Cuba. Handcrafted baked items are this authentic Cuban sandwich shop and bakery's main attraction. The sisters work at the beginning of the week to fill the bakery cases with an assortment of traditional cuban pastries and desserts that vary: pastelitos, croquetas, empanadas, flan, tres leches cake, pudin du pan, Basque cheesecake and more! Flavorful hot and pressed sandwiches—a traditional Cuban, Media Noche, Pan con Bistec (Cuban steak sandwich)—and soup or beans of the day provide hearty, addictive lunch selections. Sides of handmade plantain chips and fried yuca sticks are accompanied with garlicky mojo dipping sauces, and a zesty Caesar salad can be topped with your choice of grilled chicken, steak or shredded mojo pork. Authentic Cuban Coffee, wine and beer available. Dine in or take out. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed Monday.
